BattleLab FAPC

Posted in EQUIPMENT, Protective on June 29th, 2007 by M M

The Battlelab Fast Attack Plate Carrier (FAPC) offered by Diamondback Tactical is a low-profile plate carrier designed as a high-mobility platform that’s expandable with the Fast Attack Rack (F.A.R.) for additional load-bearing capability.

The FAPC comes in four sizes, dimensioned and shaped to fit SAPI plates of corresponding size – small (for 8″ x 10″ plates), medium (10″ x 12″), large (10″ x 13″ ) and X-large (11″ x 14″). Shown here is the medium size.

Crye Multicam Water Transfer Updated info

Posted in MISCELLANEOUS on June 26th, 2007 by M M

Lakota-Industries will be doing custom Crye Multicam water transfer printing. Shown below are some items I sent to Lakota Industries to get dipped; my modified Safariland 6004 and a kydex knife sheath. I took apart the 6004 and only sent in the holster, leg panel and thumb break. The coated products came out very nicely. I should caution that the transfer film can crack when put on flexible parts like the thumb break if subjected to bending. The thumb break was coated when it was flat, but when bending it into a ‘U’ shape, the film developed hairline cracks on the outside (not visible in the photos). For flexible parts, either coat them in their normal bent state, or leave them uncoated. The holster almost disappears against the Crye Combat Pants below.

CountyComm Mine Probe Case

Posted in EQUIPMENT on June 23rd, 2007 by M M

The Improved Mine Probe Pouch offered by County Comm was designed for military EOD teams as a means of carrying their mine probes, however it can be used to carry other items as well. The black nylon case measures 8″ tall x 4″ wide and about 2″ thick when fully stuffed. There’s a zipper around the edge of the case, and when unzipped the case only opens up about 30° instead of all the way. This is to prevent small items inside the case from falling out if it were to open too wide.

Midwest Industries Heavy Duty sling adaptor

Posted in AR, WEAPONS on June 20th, 2007 by M M

Midwest Industries, Inc. has introduced their MCTAR-08HD (Heavy Duty) version of the MCTAR-08, their rail-mounted front sling adaptor for a QD sling swivel. The MCTAR-08HD is a beefier platform that engages more rail than the MCTAR-08. The best thing about it is that it limits the rotation of the QD sling swivel. The QD sling swivel will only turn about 20° after insertion. This prevents the sling from twisting around. Any QD sling swivel will work with the MCTAR-08HD. It’s shown here with the 1-1/4″ HD swivel.

CountyComm Pocket Widgy bars and Collector’s Bag

Posted in Blades, WEAPONS on June 17th, 2007 by M M

If the Pocket Pry Bars from CountyComm are too big, take a look at their Pocket Widgy Bar and Micro Widgy Bar. These dimunitive pry bars will fit just about anywhere – and are designed just like the pry bars shown above, only without the L-Bend. They have the have nail puller slots and holes, and are made of steel. The Pocket Widgy Bar (larger one) is 4.1″ long and the Micro Widgy Bar is 3″ long. Both are 0.5″ wide. They each have a key-ring hole at the end of the handle. Just like the larger pry bars, these are useful for pulling nails, staples etc when you don’t want to damage a knife blade or have a screwdriver handy.

EMDOM USA .308 Double mag pouch

Posted in Emdom, EQUIPMENT on June 12th, 2007 by M M

308 Double Mag Pouch – EMDOM’s 308 Double Mag Pouch is the .308 version of their excellent CQB M4 Double Mag pouch shown below. Each will hold two .308 20-round magazines for most weapons like the FAL, M1A/M14, SR25 etc. I’ve not had a chance to try it with G3/HK91 mags. The pouch is designed for easy access to mags without sacrificing security/retention. The height of the pouch leaves 2″ of the top of the mag to grab onto. No longer do you have to use spacers at the bottom or reach down inside pouches designed for longer magazines. The lid is adjustable and removable, and can be tucked behind the retention strap for ‘open top’ use.
The 1″ elastic provides retention when the pouch is open. Each pouch takes up two columns of PALS webbing – I’ve illustrated three of them mounted to my STRIKE rig.

OR Gear Sentry Gloves

Posted in EQUIPMENT, Gloves on June 11th, 2007 by M M

The Sentry Gloves shown below are essentially the short-cuff version of the Vigil gloves shown above and share exactly the same specifications and features. Actually, it IS the Vigil glove, but without the fleece cuff sewn to it. It’s shown here with the tan ‘digital pattern’ textured leather. Like the Vigil, it’s made of Massif’s Stretch Elements softshell Nomex fabric, which provides weather-proof protection against the elements. It’s designed for cooler to moderately cold weather.
