Just in time for the rest of summer, the Rocket World Force 10 Spartan Shorts from TAD Gear are the short version of their Spartan Pants with some newly incorporated features. Like the Spartan Pants, the Spartan Shorts are sans side cargo pockets, which result in a more streamlined version of the Force 10 Cargo Shorts.
This is the CBDU (Contractor BDU) from EMDOM USA. It’s a limited-run custom modified BDU shirt and pant that was originally designed as an enhanced BDU for private military contractors, or anyone else that can make use of its practical features.
This project actually started in December 2006, when Ken from EMDOM asked me if I had any ideas for modified BDUs. ‘Custom/enhanced’ BDUs have become more commonplace now; back then all you had were BDUs that you took to the tailor to modify. Most of the BDUs were geared towards the military; less so for the civilian or PMC. Since PMCs can’t wear camouflage, and some civvies dislike wearing camo to tactical classes etc, there were some modifications that I had in mind that I thought would be practical, and that I could make use of on the range while running around. So, while these BDUs can be worn by anyone who can use its features, we always referred to them as the ‘Contractor BDUs’, so the name stuck. The main goal was to provide practicality, additional elbow and knee protection, comfort and load bearing capability over the standard BDU without a noticeable increase in weight.
Vltor has introduced the quick-detachable version of their SM-OCG (Scout Mount – Offset Classic G-series) light mount, the SMQ-OCG. It features an ADM locking lever mechanism instead of the dual thumb knobs, which enables the easy attachment and removal of the light from a rail.
Mystery Ranch makes a lot of products that don’t make it onto their website – sometimes because they’re of a proprietary nature, and other times because the guys are just too busy to take photos and stick it up on the site. The One Man Duffel is one of those to which the latter reason applies.
The Spandura Duffels are Mystery Ranch’s take on the simple duffel, with a few of their own unique features thrown in for good measure. The Spandura Duffels come in three sizes: Small (2000 cu.in.), Medium (3000 cu.in.) and Large (7000 cu.in.). They’re lightweight, yet semi-structured for ease of use.
A Cat Tail is a power throw lever for a variable power scope. It’s an attachment that enables the power ring to be rotated more quickly and easily by providing added leverage. This can be advantageous if the user needs to change the power setting on their scope rapidly, or has a scope with a stiff power adjustment ring.
The FatZombie Duty Belt from Jones Tactical is an inner/outer gun belt system that features a quick-release Cobra Buckle. It’s a very stiff system, designed not to roll with leg holsters/platforms, and is custom made to the user’s waist size.
ITW Military Products has introduced the Gen 3 version of their FASTmag. It now comes in two versions – a MOLLE version and a belt-mounted version. What’s interesting is that the Belt version can be attached/stacked onto the front of the MOLLE version, creating a double FASTmag pouch for added capacity over the Gen 2 version.
Tru-Spec has released the second generation of their Combat Shirt, which I featured in the above writeup, and to my pleasant surprise, has greatly improved upon their first version.
