The Discreet Messenger Bag from ITS Tactical is a messenger-style bug-out/bail-out bag with a compliment of practical features intended to meet the needs of the tactical and everyday user alike. The lack of external PALS webbing or velcro contributes to the discreet outward appearance of the DMB. It’s custom made for ITS Tactical by Zulu Nylon Gear.
Two of the latest offerings from the Arc’teryx LEAF line are the Sphinx Pant and the Gryphon Pant . Both use a combination of different fabrics, anatomical patterning, and a host of integrated features to offer outstanding versatility across a broad range of weather conditions. I would normally do completely separate writeups for each pair of pants, but it made more sense to compare them to each other at the same time so the differences (some of them subtle) and shared features could be better pointed out. In a nutshell, both are combat pants designed for inclement weather use, with the Gryphon having an edge in water-resistance, and the Sphinx in breathability.
The Sawfly Military Eyewear System from Revision Eyewear has been redesigned with a new frame, Comms Compatible arms, new Comfort nosepiece, and extended lens and new retention system. The Sawfly was designed specifically to meet the demands and features needed for military eye protection. Civvie shooters or law enforcement officers will also benefit from wearing proper eye protection. The Sawfly is on the U.S. Army’s Authorized eyewear list.
When 215Gear came out with their Bended Operators Hat, which has mesh side panels for ventilation, I thought “It’d be great if they made an ALL-mesh hat” and suggested that back in December ’08 in the Blended Operators hat writeup. Well, they’ve finally come out with one. It’s called the Operators Hat, ELW (Extremely Light Weight) and promises to be most breathable tactical hat yet.
The APC (Assault Plate Carrier) from Mayflower R&C (Research & Consulting LLC) is a molle-compatible, modular plate carrier that is somehow able to pack a lot of features into a low profile, lightweight package. It has no padding or anything that adds extra bulk, but is surprsingly comfortable to wear. SKD Tactical will be the first dealer to carry it, and will be offering a discount for the first two weeks.
The SRS Soft Case from Desert Tactical Arms is designed for use with their SRS series of bullpup bolt-action rifles. Although it can be used with any other rifle that fits in it, it has some SRS-specific features that some folks may not be able to use.
