The Talos LT Halfshell from the LEAF (Law Enforcement and Armed Forces) division of Arc’teryx debuted earlier this year at the 2013 SHOT Show, and is based on the Talos Halfshell but with a low profile collar and no pit zips or ‘roll and stow’ sleeve system. Like the Talos Halfshell, the LT version is part of LEAF’s Armour Compatible Layering system. It’s a no-melt, no-drip lightweight long-sleeved work shirt that uses two different materials in its construction to provide hot weather comfort and durability.

The Talos Halfshell Patterned in Crye MultiCam is the matching lightweight combat shirt to the Talos Pant Patterned, from the LEAF (Law Enforcement and Armed Forces) division of Arc’teryx. It’s part of LEAF’s Armour Compatible Layering system. It’s a no-melt, no-drip lightweight long-sleeved shirt that uses two different materials in its construction to provide hot weather comfort and durability. The Talos Halfshell also incorporates Arc’teryx’s ‘Roll-and-Stow’ sleeve system that enables the user to convert the sleeve configuration from long to short during periods of intense physical activity.

The Talos Pant from the Arc’teryx LEAF line is the BDU fabric version of the Sphinx Pant . It’s designed as a hot-climate combat pant made of no-melt, no-drip lightweight breathable fabric, with heavy-duty webbing knee reinforcement. Like the Sphinx pant, the Talos has articulated patterning and a loose cut for freedom of meovement, and a host of combat-ready features.

Two of the latest offerings from the Arc’teryx LEAF line are the Sphinx Pant and the Gryphon Pant . Both use a combination of different fabrics, anatomical patterning, and a host of integrated features to offer outstanding versatility across a broad range of weather conditions. I would normally do completely separate writeups for each pair of pants, but it made more sense to compare them to each other at the same time so the differences (some of them subtle) and shared features could be better pointed out. In a nutshell, both are combat pants designed for inclement weather use, with the Gryphon having an edge in water-resistance, and the Sphinx in breathability.

Most people are familiar with the two main Italian camouflage patterns currently in use at the time of this writing – Vegetato (woodland) and Desertico E.I., which is a desert variant of Vegetato. SKD Tactical’s new Gen 2 Enhanced BDU pants are a follow-on to their Enhanced BDUs released two years ago. While the Gen 1 Enhanced BDU pants were based on the standard mil-spec BDU pant in style and sizing, the Gen 2′s still retain the classic BDU cut and fit but with the addition of quite a few new features and changes.
