BlueForceGear has introduced a new verison of their padded VCAS (Vickers Combat Application Sling) utilizing printed camouflage webbing and a new acetal adjuster (AA - double ‘A’). It’s called the VCAS Padded Double A Model.
The Spike’s Tactical ST-22 Upper is a complete drop-on .22LR upper receiver for any AR15-type rifle, converting it to shoot inexpensive .22LR ammunition. Whether it’s for fun, plinking or training, a conversion upper for an AR15 is quickly becoming a popular accessory for AR owners out there.
The ACOG RCO QD Mount is designed for Trijicon TA31RCO (Rifle Combat Optic) ACOG scope, which is essentially a TA31 with a special reticle designed for the USMC. There are different variants of the TA31RCO; one of them is for the M4A1 and another for the M16A4. One of the issues with the M16A4 in service with the USMC is the non-collapsible, full length A2 stock. The long length of this stock can cause issues when wearing body armour as the stock is too long to allow proper eye relief with magnified optics.
Many shooters are already familiar with Maglula Ltd., and their innovative magazine loaders. I’ve been using one for my AR15 for a number of years. Their newest offering is the StripLULA, which loads M16/AR15 magazines using stripper clips or loose rounds. I’ll also cover some of their LULA models for other weapons in this writeup, including the UpLULA for pistols.
LaRue Tactical offers two offset flashlight mounts; the LT-606 single light mount and the LT-607 double stack light mount.
The LT-606 single light mount consists of a base with two rings that sit in channels and are attached to it with screws. The rings move down in their channels when the screws are tightened, and clamp the light body to the base. The rings are available in three diameters to fit a variety of lights and lasers body diameters - 1.040″, 0.830″ and 0.760″.
As 5.56mm ammunition prices have more than doubled over the past couple of years like the price of gas, and don’t seem to be going down anytime soon, I’ve been shooting a dedicated .22lr upper on my AR-15 lowers for plinking, close-range (less than 25 yards) drills and practice, and just plain fun. I use the BDM (Black Dog Machine) magazine. It holds 27 rounds of .22lr and comes in skinny and full size. I use the full size which looks like a regular 30-round magazine and fits into 30-round mag pouches. My only gripe with the BDM mag is that it’s hard to load, once you get past 15 round or so. You have to push each round down with the one you’re trying to insert, and it’s not easy with the curvature of the .22lr case. The result: sore and tired fingers. So I made my own ‘Ghetto’ thumb loader.
Ever since EMDOM USA and I introduced the URS (Universal Rig Strap) Sling two years ago, I’ve had numerous requests and inquiries from URS Sling users for a single or two-point sling that was compatible with the connector that the URS uses. The connector attaches to the receiver end plate, or to a swivel at the rear of the stock, and uses a female SR buckle. As far as I know, it’s not compatible with any other sling. URS users wanted a sling that could be attached to the URS connector for stand-alone use, when not using a rig. In response to those requests, EMDOM is now offering a sling that URS users can use without having to remove the connector from their weapon. It’s called the Gunslinger Sling.
Aimpoint’s CompM4 Red Dot Sight is the latest CCO (Close Combat Optic) adopted by the U.S. Army, beating out its competitors in the Army’s competition for a new CCO to replace the CompM2. The CompM4 is even more rugged than its predecessors, and has a battery life that pretty much eliminates battery life as an issue.
